I also am still proud of this team. Nobody gave them a shot in this game but they hung in there and refused to quit when the buzzsaw hit them. Penalties were killer (lining up off sides on the play where Sanchez fumbled was huge, as was the fumble by Green on the long play towards the end of the half).

They'll be back but hopefully they see what they need to do to take it up a notch. This wasn't the Alamo Bowl. This was the big stage.

magikplp... you're correct, to a degree. I don't really believe that PSU was "slower" than USC, even in the trenches. I do agree with you in this way... the USC offensive scheme vs. the PSU defensive scheme (if you can even call it that) utilized the Trojans speed better than the PSU defensive speed. So, you're right, kinda.

But I do want to make one amendment to may analysis. I don't know why I left it out (I was probably trying to forget about it), but the penalties on PSU were killer. I haven't seen so many penalties on PSU in a long, long time. I think the offsides were the worst.

You forgot to mention the word "speed." As Kirk commented on, USC had speed not only in the secondary but on the line. As for your conference, the Big-10 needs some serious help.
